Ended up with an Old Towne canoe. It looks like it’s seen some water. There’s no major damage but needs some work. Wanted to figure out what model it was. Below is the serial number. Person who gave it to me was in the middle of a move and didn’t want to see it go to the dump. Also, are their folks that will work on newer canoes (meaning not wood). I live in Mass. would be willing to travel to Maine,NH,VT.

Serial Number : XTC495555M831

Welcome and congratulations, hull identification numbers are only 12 digits long so I suspect that you have an extra five. The Old Town canoe with hull identification number XTC49555M83I and serial number 249555 is a 14 foot long Chipewyan Hunter model. It was built in April, 1983 and sold unassembled. The original exterior color was green. It shipped on April 27th, 1983 to Concord, Massachusetts. The back side of this scan shows that it had bubbled on the outside and was made from a 16 foot long sheet. Scans of both sides of this build record can be found below.

These scans and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer this description doesn't match. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
