Help! Peterborough exterior stems

Looks like a great fit, Walt!
I bend outer stems right on the canoe. I use a strap with holes in it for screws and screw it down when it’s hot. It’s kind of a 2 man operation. I do it early in the restoration and don’t remove them until canvassing time. Little to no spring back.

Thanks everyone...not much luck finding a pliable mahogany here yet, so I took the easy way with cherry bending on a form and installing after a week. It's a new build and a bit of an experiment/prototype so maybe the next one will have mahogany stems.:)

This is stunning Walt. I gotta know more about this build. First, how did you calculate the vertical planking? Meaning the widths. Are they ever changing based on the hull shape?

Thanks for your encouraging words everyone. Jeff, I think that you practically built a new one when you rebuilt your cedar rib, and yours has been in the water! I am not there yet, but slowly working on it. Currently bending and installing rails and decks. If it all somehow works (or even if it doesn't) I will share the story but one thing I am pretty sure of...I will need a bailer!:D

Walt, are those nails or tacks in the pictures? Copper, brass, bronze? Do they get cliched? Pre-drilled?
Forgive all the questions, but this type of construction is not often seen.
