Could you please help me find some information on this Chestnut canoe?
Many thanks,

Good morning Mike, nice canoe and looks to be in fairly good condition, ready for the water. There are others here more knowledgeable than I but I do own 3 Chestnut canoes, a Chum I've restored for myself, and both a Pal and prospector model needing full restorations.
Yours look like one of the pleasure models, perhaps 70's era, maybe a Playmate? Either way you'll enjoy paddling it they are great canoes!
Welcome to the group, you'll get much more info following as others chime in.

Like Benson mentioned, serial numbers on Chestnuts cannot be used to determine age, but there is a clue using the decal on the deck. The square backed transparent vinyl and the text layout point to the transition period in the 1970s when Chestnut switched to using these cheaper labels. Also note that that decal has only two lines of black text on the lower part. This logo change happened circa 1972/1973 and first appears in their circa 1973 catalogue.

Before this era, Chestnut's logo had 3 lines of black text in this area. Here's an example for comparison:

Here's a link to the c1973 catalogue online:

Scroll to the 2nd last page of the catalogue to the model chart. Your 14'10" with those rib dimensions likely point to a CHUM

Thanks Gary, happy to find a place with passionate enthusiasts. This one need a new canvas but otherwise in good shape.
