Build thread: 13' Esprit solo canoe

Hi Everybody. I apologize to anyone interested in following this thread for not updating recently. It is summer, what more can I say? Lots of things to keep me distracted, and many other things keeping me away from the computer.

Anyway, the canoe is finished and in the hands of the happy owner. I will post the completion of the story as soon as I can get some computer time.

Well, time to wrap things up.

Again, I apologize for having taken so long in posting. I really has been a busy summer and my computer time, and computer access, has been severely limited. There were a lot of other people wanting to use my computer at exactly the same times as I was able to use it. So guess what got lost in the shuffle. Yes, that's right, my WCHA posting.

Anyway, here are the finished canoe shots.

And if anybody ever claims that wooden canoes are just for wealthy middle age people, they are wrong! I have never sold a new canoe to a "rich" person, and the new owner of this canoe is in his mid 20's.

If anyone of you is experienced in Freestyle paddling, go easy on the paddler. He really is a good paddler, in Style paddling. FS is new to him and he is at the early stage of the learning curve.

As somebody with some (but not a huge amount) of Freestyle paddling experience, I can tell by the wakes in the pictures that he's no slouch. Is he coming out for the Midwest Freestyle Symposium next week?

Nice boat, too! It's been fun watching the build process -- thank you for posting!

My hat is off to any young person or anybody for that matter that is learnig Freestyle. I gawk at the manuvers as seen on the You Tube clips. While I am not trying to learn Freestyle just the You Tube exposure has made a difference in how I use a paddle and my body positioning.

What a sweet little canoe! I love the enthusiasm expressed in these pictures... especially refreshing in "a younger person"!

Kathy
