Peterborough 2394

Gil Cramer

The wooden canoe Shop, Inc.
Does anybody know whether this is a model number or a serial number? The canoe is a 16'X33"X12" Peterborough with standard rib spacing, caned seats, and aluminum stem bands reportedly built in the late '40's or early'50's. Thanks, Gil

Bump.

This is the canoe I got from Gil. Any thoughts as to it's age and model?

It may be a Pleasure model but...it does have 2394 stamped on the stem.

16' x 33" (barely) x about 13" (to the top of the planking).

3/8 x 2 1/4 ribs, slightly tapered, spaced about 4 1/4 c/c or from 1 3/4 to 2" space between ribs.

The numbers line up best with the Otonobee (1938 cat) or the Champlain
(1941 cat).

The ribs joining the decks are wide and very thin.

Thoughts?

Dan
