Old town row boat

Beardedskipper

Canoe Sailor
Hi Benson, Came across a 9' 4" canvas covered dinghy today I believe it is an oldtown. The serial no. On the foot of the inner stem is 106640.
The boat is in rough shape but not broken.
Could be restored no doubt.
Thanks for any info.

The Old Town with serial number 106640 is a nine foot long, AA (or top) grade, dinghy model with open mahogany gunwales, a keel, outside stems, a floor rack, a bow fender, roped gunwales, and bilge keels. It was built between June and July, 1930. The original exterior paint color was white. It shipped on September 22nd, 1930 to New York City. A scan showing this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.php to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your dinghy. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the restoration if you decide to take it on,

Benson
