Is C.D.C. the maker?

I picked up this 14'9" wood and canvas canoe for free this morning from a woman who said her father-in-law had used it at a lake up in Canada. Is the C.D.C. on the deck an acronym for the maker? Does anyone know the maker? The approximate year? Someone who didn't fully know what they were doing did some work on it back in the day. I feel like it should still be worth trying to make water worthy again. Yes? I like my old fiberglass White brand canoe in the background, but I've always wanted a wooden one. Thanks for any info.

My guess is that you may have a canoe that was made in Canada and might have once been owned by someone whose initials were "C. D. C."

My gut reaction was that they were someone's initials because they were not professionally done, but I was holding out hope that they might help ID the canoe. Thanks.

I'm thinking the same as Dave Osborn... Chestnut Bobs Special. Here's my recently restored one. What is the width at the center thwart? Should be around 36".
