Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hi Everyone - I'm new to the forums, and hopefully someone can tell me a little about the Greenwood 16' "Prospector" I recently picked-up.

As far as I can see it's in great condition, with very little work needing to be done. Serial number form the stem is p1631372.

Also anyone with a little info on Greenwood canoes would be doing me a great favor for sharing their knowledge. I haven't been able to find as much about them on the site as I have the other types such as Old Town, etc..

Thanks,
Andrew

Nice canoe! You have a prospector "Special" with 1/2 ribs. Bill Greenwood didn't put serial numbers in his canoes until the late 1970's just before going out of business. Greenwood canoes were constructed with mahogany inwales, outwales and decks. The ribs were western Sitca spruce with western red cedar planking. The outwales are fastened with ferrous screws which can be hard to remove. A heavy but very high quality canoe.
If you email me your address I can mail you copies of his price list and bio.
