Yellow White

Is there any record of a sixteen foot yellow EM White with a serial number of YW 162368? It's a heavy canoe, color white interior, wide rounded gunwhales like a bathtub. Anything you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks

There are no known build records for the E. M. White canoe company so there isn't much anyone here can do to help you. The Old Town record for number 162368 shows a 16 foot long wooden Yankee model that shipped in 1955. The Coast Guard's Manufacturers Identification database doesn't appear to have any record for the White Canoe Company. There is a record for the YWI code at http://www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic_detail.aspx?id=YWI known as Majestic Yachts but they probably didn't make your canoe. More information about the various White models including their later fiberglass ones can be found in the White catalogs contained on the Historic Wood Canoe and Boat Company Catalog Collection CD available from http://merchandise.wcha.org/ and http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm on the web. Someone might recognize your canoe if you can post some pictures.
