Todd's son is posting pics about the progress and answering questions about the build at an ongoing post on this bushcraft forum. Pics on the 3rd page show the huge tree used for the bark which gave a sheet 5 feet wide!

On page two of the bushcraft forum, there is a two part video of a porpoise hunt from a Mi'kmaq bark canoe. A little after 8 minutes into part 1 of the video, there is some good footage of the older native American paddling style -- similar to what is called the northwoods style -- showing seemingly effortless speed and control.
