Taking the lines for a new build

JHomer

Continuing the Tradition
I found this boat on craigs list and was lucky enough to get it for a good price. Its got great lines so I have decided to build one. If anyone recognizes the original builder let me know.

So the boat was completed days before the 90 Miler and was rowed in the race. It placed 2nd out of five boats entered and rowed terrific. Here are a few pictures of the completed boat. If your interested in a boat look us up at Adirondack Rowboats Paddle & Oar. I offer a 12', 14', and 16 and can be requested in any configuration traditional or modern construction.

Awesome looking completed boat. Taking lines for a build is one of the most satisfying things ive done, and this proves you really only need one good quarter to reproduce! Ive often looked at those sad shelves and thought about recreating the hull.

Andre, I made a form using one quarter of an 18' Penn Yan guide. And it worked. The canoe went to quetico several times. I later cut about 3 1/2' out of the middle of the form to made a smaller canoe that weighs 48.5#. You'll have to do the conversion to metric.

Sounds good Dave, i always take 2 or 3 quarters, which are inevitably lumpy after 100 years, and end up correcting for that one clean piece. Havent had the pleasure of asymmetrical hulls yet, stick with the classics .

Dave you mean you measured one quarter or you had one quarter? I still measure a few and correct them all to get the true shape, those 100+ year old boats are usually lumpy!
