Square stern E.M. Whites??

The Canoe Kid

LOVES Wooden Canoes
Can anyone give me some insights into square stern canoes offered by E.M White?

I've come across one the seller is calling a Guide model. He's dating it to the 1920s.

I've never seen an original, square sterned EM White canoe. Little for a some 411.

Thanks

The image attached below shows a White square stern from their circa 1925 catalog. More information about this and other White models can be found in the White catalogs contained on the Historic Wood Canoe and Boat Company Catalog Collection CDs available from http://www.wcha.org/catalog/ and http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm on the web. Pictures may help people here identify it for you. Good luck,

Benson

Chris,
That only vaguely resembles a sq st canoe. What did White call it? The Penn Yan CZT in the background certainly looks familiar. It was probably never in the water.

I saw one of these up on Moosehead near the NE Carry back in 1970/71 or so. It looked like the canoe in the catalog that Benson attached. It appeared to have been built as a square stern and was not a hack job.

I dont know the model, but it looks just like a Kennebec Joy Boy. No, it looks to have never been in the water. Extremely nice restoration too.

My guess is a WHI-CO-WIF model based on the catalog page attached below from their 1924 catalog.
