Old Town Request

Curious about Wooden Canoes
I am currently looking at a 1967 Old Town 18' canoe with serial number175793 18. Could you please send the build record.

Thanks, Tim

Hello Tim,

Sorry - you are going to have to take another look at the Serial number of your canoe. 175793 is assigned to a 17' Otca. I also tried 175798 - but that doesn't fit either.

Look at both stems and compare. The numbers should be the same. Clean the area carefully and maybe try to do a rubbing with paper & crayon.

Post your results back here, we should be able to help.

Retry on the Old Town search.

Thanks for your previous reply Mike.

The owner rechecked the serial number and you were correct. The serial number is 175793 17. It was purchased in 1967.

Would you please search for this number.

Thanks for providing this service.

Tim

Yep - that's the one I looked at before. The 2 digit number after the serial number is the length of the boat.

175793 was assigned to a 17' Otca model with a keel and painted OT yellow. It was shipped to Milwaukee, WI in March of 1967. Record is attached.

Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
