I just picked up the canoe. The attached plate reads XTC07798M75L, stamped into the hull is 207798. It has two seats and is possibly made of RoyalX? And information would be great. I can attach more pictures if needed if the rain ever stops here. Thank you.

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town canoe with serial number 207798 and hull identification number XTC07798M75L is a 15 foot long Chipewyan Mini-Tripper model that weighed 63 pounds. It was built in May 1975. The original exterior color was red. It shipped on July 22nd, 1975 to Greenbrae, California. The back side of the card shows that it had some scuff marks on the bottom outside. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found below.

These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-wcha to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/pricing-plans/join to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer this description doesn't match the canoe. Page seven of the 1975 catalog at https://adirondack.pastperfectonline.com/Library/21FA5A4C-6A4A-4F23-9692-433539293670 has more details. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

That’s amazing, shipped to California and now it lives 30 minutes from the Delaware River on the east coast. Thank you so much! I’m guessing it was made of RoyalX?

The Old Town Chipewyan models were made of an acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (or ABS) plastic. The page at the link below has more details about this material. Uniroyal used Royalex as the name for their version of ABS. Old Town used a different layering and called it Oltonar. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question.

Thank you. I’m very new to all this and only recently found out about RoyalX. If it made it from ‘75, I’m sure it’s got a few good years left.
