In just finished painting my brothers canoe. I started out with Epifanes black, gloss, didn't like it so switched to the matte finish and really like it, very stealth bombererish. I am rethinking the high gloss finishes, may try some more satin.

I'm wondering if the matte black will be difficult to keep clean -- perhaps you can let us know after you've paddled it a bit.

I think he is seeing your Ohio registration plaque. With the white back ground, it looks like it could be a hole.
