hi everyone . my father bought an old canoe from a neighbor and we cant find the hull number. the boat is canot cadorette canoe model C-143 and year 1975. it is is good shape so my father is interested. we cant get a pleasure license craft without it. please help....

Canada didn't require hull identification numbers before 1981. Canada or Quebec should have a mechanism for issuing a hull identification number to an older and home made canoe but I don't the details. Good luck,

Hi Christian, I'm not familiar with this canoe or if you were planning on putting a motor on it?
I've paddled canoes in a number of provinces here in Canada, mostly Ontario, and have never needed either my canoe to be registered or myself to have a pleasure craft license.
I've a bunch of canoes and many of them do not have any identification number on them, as not all makers numbered their canoes.
Unless you are needing something for insuring your canoe or you're planning on putting a motor larger than the 9.9, I'd say just get out there and enjoy it. But I'm not an expert in the legalities regarding boating in Canada other than what you need onboard while on the water, PFD, light, whistle, bailer, painter, etc.
