Hi,
My 87 year old father here in Massachusetts has owned an 8 foot wooden canoe since about 1991. I am including photos he took, and the backs are dated that year. He bought it at L.L. Bean. He also thinks he may have bought it around 1982.
A local canoe enthusiast and friend says it is a canoe that is hard to come by these days. It is 8foot, one-person, wide and all wood, with a cane seat. Other than a few cosmetic scratches, it appears to be in almost pristine condition. Dad only took it out two or three times, and neighbors borrowed it a few times. Otherwise, it has been in dry storage in his garage.
I am including photos here, and trying to determine what maker it is - Stowe (we have papers), or an L.L. Bean? Does Stowe even make canoes any more? I haven't been able to locate them on the web.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I will also be looking for a new home for it, so any idea of value would also be helpful.
Again, thanks for any and all advice!
Jennifer
