Chestnut Bob's Special questions

One of the identifying features of a Bob's is the thinner 1/8th inch thick ribs designed to cut down on weight. My memory fails me, but I think the planking is thinner too.

Yes, the ribs are close together like on an Ogilvy model. Used for running rocky rivers.

Fitz, the ribs on my Bobs are 1/4”. The planks 1/8”. Same as OT 50 Pounder.
This canoe looks like a Bobs HD. Heavy Duty.
Did he say what the thicknesses were on this one?

Not sure if "he" is me or not, Dave, but the ribs are 1/4" thick. I don't know what the planking is, since I've not had it apart.

I'm currently working on a 18' Ogilvy....at this moment readying the hull for new covering. No serial # that I can find...a beast of a boat!! I'm looking forward to paddling it...giant ribs really close together and a cargo type mid thwart.
I think you could dance in this boat! Looking for a source of new brass seat hardware, varying inches!
