Chestnut Bob's questions

LOVES Wooden Canoes
I have began working on a Chestnut Bob's and I have found a lot different on this one than on my 1970 Chestnut Bob's.

Decks are different, screw hole in every rib for the keel, seats have sculptured frames (short pieces only) and the canoe has 4 3/4" plank, no serial number 2 1/4" ribs with 2" between.

I understand there is no way of telling the exact age on Chestnuts, but could someone give me an idea of a time frame?

Thank You

Show us more photos; overall view from above and side. What is the center depth? Were the seats bolted directly to the gunnels?

Thanks for the reply Dick,

Here is a profile and interior picture. The canoe is 11 1/2' deep from top of plank to top of thwart, the seats where bolted to the inwales, the thwart is much nice than my 1970 Bob's. The canoe is just under 35" from outside of each inwale. 2 bolts in each side of center thwart (4 bolts total hold the thwart in)

Thanks for the help.

Hi Robin,

I suspect it was built sometime between late 1920's and late 1930's.

Thanks Dick, I'm pretty happy about the condition of the canoe besides the obvious deck and inwales. I'm going to replace the inwales rather than splice them, and I have one really good deck to work from.
Any idea of what the keel measurement might be?
Thanks for taking the time to give me a time frame, very much appreciated.

goldencub, I had that snow trucked in for contrast...hahha
