Curious about Wooden Canoes
Patrick, they did come from the cap. Could very well be escutcheon pins. I’ve read about them but never used them.
MGC, this is the same canoe. Maybe different/better lighting? The decks do look lighter. The original pictures also had the gunwale caps on both ends. I took them off for the new pics. The other difference is I added the wood strips to support the broken gunwales which brought the shape back in.
The previous owner said it was a BN Morris but it doesn’t have the wide stems and little, if any, tumblehome so I don’t think it is.
