Canoe 15ft, Serial 36321815

Serial number 36321815 is a 15 ft cedar canvas canoe. Single thwart. Ribs x53 spaced 1 1/12 " and 1 1/2 wide. End rib 4 wide. Center is tumblehome. Planking is 4 inch wide. Gunnels held with Robertson screws. Decks circular with no ogee. Full keel 1.5 in at the center. Anyone can help ID this gem. I am about to embark in a major restoration. It was purchased second hand in Ottawa back in the early 1960. Possibly a 1950ish build.

My guess would be a Peterborough Minetta model (number 1815) from around 1956. There are no known available serial records for Peterborough so more detailed information is not available. Others here know more about Canadian canoes than me so they may be able to offer more information. Good luck,

I was originally thinking Chestnut 15 ft. The rib sizing is correct but not the number. Peterborough might be a good lead. Thank you for the info.
Just a bit of history...I bought this canoe from an older lady in Alberta who herself got it from her father ( still alive at 100'ish) who served in the airforce. He originally bought it off his Captain around the time of the Montreal Olympics ( 1972) who had it as first owner. I am thinking 1956 might just fit the bill. This canoe seems to still have bits of the original canvas with pastel blue paint. It was painted over forest green, orange and finally blue ! Looks old

Did more research and you might just be right.
The keel shape and design matches my canoe. The thwart is also dead center.
The ends are very narrow and the overall shape matches the Minetta.
We are all very exited out here.
Glad to have rescued it from certain destruction.
