LOVES Wooden Canoes
I'm down to the ends of this rib canoe, you can see where it was stored in the dirt on it's ends due to the rot. The decks where real bad. The new rails and deck are in the proper place according to the old cedar ribs and the old rails and decks. What would you do to attach the stems, they do want to twist a bit, and what about the rot?

hope i can be alittle help

i usually build strip built canoes and kayaks but the inner and outer stems are pretty much the same. I would make a fixture or use the existing pieces of the stem and make new ones, you don't want all that bad wood in your canoe. Laminate thin strips to the thickness of the stem you want and clamp them down
