LOVES Wooden Canoes
I finished my second restore yesterday. A ’64 OT Guide purchased in pretty rough shape with a lot of rot and discoloration, although no broken ribs. I used oxalic acid after stripping, and was very pleased by the results. The keel, decks, outwales, and seats were too far gone to save. I had a little fun with it and added hand caned seats, carrying thwarts, short top rails, and a floor rack. The new decks and carry thwarts were modeled after a 1930 OT I have. The outwales I built are tapered and D-shaped. Hoping to take her out soon.
