Old Town Canoe looking for a loving home

Curious about Wooden Canoes
Hi,
I was introduced to this forum by the great people at Old Town Canoe. I have a kit built OT from the 1900s that is in need of a great home. It is currently living in Harford County Maryland. It is sea worthy but hasn’t seen the water in decades- so might need a bit of work. My Dad acquired the war canoe in the 1940s and fixed both stern and bow. It has a mast, outrigger and rudder for sailing. The canoe was sailed in the Chesapeake in to 40s. That’s pretty much all I know. Original paddles included. I have photos to show after I get 3 posts that show that I’m not a bot lol.
Thanks,
Wes

Welcome, can you share the serial number? The link below may help of you aren't sure where to look or the digits are hard to read.

Wes you've come to the right place! If you can't find a loving home here than there just isn't one, but I bet you already have? Pictures tell the real story and to us canoe nuts are greatly appreciated!
Thanks Gary

Ok

Wes, any luck on a serial number? I am currently in the Finger Lakes picking up a canoe and heading south day after tomorrow. MAY be able to secure a second on the racks. Serial number will be very helpful to ID the specs etc. Thanks

no serial number- the plate was lost when the bow rotted out

An Old Town should have the serial number in the stern as well. The link below may help.

Will be headed back to NY from VA in June, if still available will reach out to see if I can swing by and take a look. Any pics of the inside of the canoe, specifically of the stems would be informative.
