what kind of canoe is it

A quick search on Google found these:

Looks like Grumman tin can to me. See logo on one of the pics. I think that there were 2 canoes, though - not sure what the other was.

I'm pretty sure it was a 16' Guide. Wendall Tremblay told me at the time that they sawed it all the way up to the gunwales, which is why it was such an unnaturally clean break. If you watch carefully, it actually breaks slightly before the Grumman hits it, just from the pressure of the current. Another interesting tidbit is that they wore Flotherchoc life vests, which were the premium whitewater PFD's back in the day, but the movie folks dyed them black (Flotherchocs were orange). I guess the orange color looked too distracting or too safe for the mood they were after.
