The Old Town canoe with serial number 111866 is a 15 foot long, CS (Common Sense or middle) grade, fifty pound model with red western cedar planking, open spruce gunwales, oak decks, oak thwarts, oak seats, and a keel. It was built between December, 1932 and May, 1933. The original exterior paint color appears to have been dark gray to sample. This usually means that someone sent in a sample of the color that they wanted the canoe to match. It was shipped on May 29th, 1933 to Buzzards Bay, Mass. but was returned on June 15th, 1933 for credit. The back side of the card shows that it later shipped to Sebec, Maine. Scans showing both sides of this build record can be found by following the links at the attached thumbnail images below.
These scans and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at
http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
