Curious about Wooden Canoes
I have aquired a canoe that has a number stamped inside the front on the rail. There are no other markings on the canoe except for the spot where maybe a company logo was located. The number is 6025. Any help identifying this canoe would be greatly appreciated.

To my semi educated eye, it looks like a Chestnut. I say this mainly because of the last cant ribs up by the stem. It is a Chestnut feature to use a wide, thin rib there. Also , the large decal spot would be a likely chestnut decal that has peeled away.

Hey Mark thanks for the reply. After some research I read that most Chestnut canoes where never marked with a model number. Those that where had 5 digits or started with the letter C . If you haven,t already check out dragonflycanoe.com. I think it may be a peterborough, but the serial number does not come up. thanks again.
