Mad Badger
In Memoriam
Are there any records at all for Thompsons? I have one I believe from the 50's. I think the number is 19080, the 9 could be a 3 or a 8, but pretty sure its a 9. Its a silver tag, not brass.

Jake,
No records exist. I've seen a handful of Thompson canoes with the serial number on an aluminum tag.
It is my opinion that the aluminum tagged canoes were some of the last ones built by Thompson...late '50's on a guess.
Your canoe is a "low sheer" Ranger model. They were the staple of kids camps and scout troops.
The plank seats stood up to the rigors and shenanigans of camp and scout use much better than cane.
It looks to be a straight forward restoration....and a fine addition to your fleet.
