Brand new in using a forum. I have no idea what I am doing. This is my first post version. Thought I had lost it when I took time out to learn how to attach photos. I started a second but then saw the auto-saved version which is this one.

I have in my possession a 16' St. Lawrence Boat Works wooden canoe. It has an Abercrombie & Fitch plate on the bow and a "St. Lawrence Boat Works, Inc., Ogdensburg, NY" plate on the bend (or stem) in the bow. I have been unable to find a serial number. I think it is pretty old, possibly 1920 - 1930's. It seems in pretty good shape, but not pristine. It might have some fiberglass repairs. One seat needs to be caned. Wondering if it is worth refurbishing and if so, how costly it would be.

I love to canoe but I am not a collector of canoes. The canoe I have has been in the family for 80 plus years I think.

I am now going to try to attach photos.

Hi Ducky,
Below are some links to WCHA forum threads, with the help of many WCHA members I was able to learn a tremendous amount about the St Lawrence Boat Works. With the assistance of some experienced friends, my "Whistle Wing" canoe was brought to life in 2011. I believe others would agree, the first step is to remove the fiberglass. The WCHA Forum has all the information and support for you to preform the restoration on your own.
Can you please post some photos of the bow and/or stern of your canoe? I am interested in the exterior stem profile.
You own a great canoe, it's worth the time and energy to give it new life.

Jody, Thanks for your message and information of today 6/2/13. I will be happy to take more pictures of bow and stern. I am excited to explore/pursue the possibilities for the subject canoe. I will look at it the canoe more thoroughly as soon as I can. My "plate is very full" right now. I had no idea how interesting but time-consuming a forum web could be. I am still in the forum learning curve and I don't have a lot of time to devote it. I am going to be away for a week or so doing another "project". I will follow through as soon as I can. Ducky

Hi Ducky,
Pentangle? I'd love to see your family canoe, if there is a convenient time. ~ Jon
