I was recently gifted an Old Town Canoe with the serial number: 29018. 16. I believe it is an OTCA. Could get a copy of the build record?

Welcome and congratulations, the Old Town with serial number 29018 is a 16 foot long HW model with closed gunwales that shipped to Peterborough, Ontario on May 25th, 1914. This isn't a good match for the canoe shown in your picture with open gunwales. Can you provide pictures of the serial numbers and surrounding areas from both ends of this canoe? Some of the suggestions at the link below may help if the numbers are hard to read. Thanks,

Benson

The Old Town canoe with serial number 29016 is a 16 foot long, AA (or top) grade, Ideal model with red western cedar planking, open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany thwarts, mahogany seats, half ribs, and a keel. It was built between October, 1913 and February, 1914. The original exterior paint color was moss green. It shipped on February 7th, 1914 to Saint Louis, Missouri. A scan of this build record can be found below.

This scan and several hundred thousand more were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will donate, join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See https://www.woodencanoe.org/about to learn more about the WCHA and https://www.woodencanoe.org/shop to donate or join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions. Good luck with the project,

Benson

I feel fairly confident this is the boat of the build order. Thank you for your efforts.
