Old Town's catalogs never listed a double ended wooden canoe in a 14 foot length and their serial numbers did not typically include a dash. The scanned records do not extend into the 300,000 range so no one here can confirm that number for you. Can you attach any pictures?

The picture doesn't look like an Old Town. The list of Maine canoe builders at http://www.wcha.org/history/maine-list.htm has a long list of other likely builders. A picture of the serial numbers from each end might help as well.
