Repair Kit

For an emergency kit, you probably don’t need a full roll of duct or the stronger Gorilla tape -- a half-used roll should be enough, and will be lighter and less bulky. Some of these other items will fit in the hole in the middle of the roll of tape -- a small knife and/or or a couple of old-fashioned single-edged razor blades, several yards of heavy-weight braided or stranded (not monofilament) fishing line with one or two sail-makers needles, a tube of Ambroid glue and/or small tubes of 5 minute epoxy, maybe a stubby screwdriver and a half-dozen dry-wall screws.

Wrap everything in some patching canvas, and stuff into a freezer-weight ziplock bag.

A leatherman-type multi-tool would obviate the need for a separate knife or screwdriver and most include a small pliers, which could be useful.

A separate small first aid kit is also not a bad idea. Paddlers, as well as canoes, can get banged up.
