Guys, Where can I buy a couple nice bronze pulleys for the boom on my sailing canoe? Without paying an arm and half a leg?:confused: Recommended size?
Bronze blocks are rare these days and hardly ever inexpensive unless you find a seller on eBay who has some and doesn't know what they're worth. The most common source for good ones is:


...but hold on to your checkbook because they're pricey. The best bet for classy cheap blocks is to make your own wooden ones, which isn't very difficult and some of them are really elegant. Size-wise, I'd like to generally see mainsheet line in the 3/8" diameter to 1/2" diameter range and somewhat fuzzy for hand comfort with sheaves and blocks big enough to take line that size.
