Polishing methods for stem bands

Does anybody have an easy method to polish stem bands??
What's the best compound for brass?

I've liked Simichrome polish for a number of years... found it in an antique shop and use it for brass and copper that doesn't need to "retain original patina". It's a paste and comes in a tube rather like toothpaste. I once polished an entire brass bed with the stuff. I see it's available on line.

Autosol, went through lots and lots on my British bikes and Harleys, its similar to what Kathryn recommended. Most auto supply stores or Motorcycle shops will have it. Grocery stores usually carry Brasso, but its a liquid and not as good as the pastes.
