Hi,
I received a bit o' info on this boat from O.T. a few years back. Any chance someone could find/post the original build record for this & any other info on hand?
Thanks,
Jim

Jim: The Old Town canoe with serial number 167831 is an 17 foot long, OTCA model with a keel and sponsons. It was built between June, 1958 and October, 1958. The original exterior paint color was green. It shipped a year and a half later on June 1, 1960 to YMCA Camp Conoy in Prince Fredericks, Maryland. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and over 200,000 similar ones were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Jim: The build record should be attached below. - Al

Thanks

Al,
Thanks so much for the scan. Coincidentally, I was born between varnishing & canvassing dates!
I'll make a contrib. to WCHA & pop in occasionally.
Jim
