I think your canoe was built about January 1948. We have a June 1947 date for #2712 and a March 4, 1948 date for #2797.
On the record boards we have, #2762 is listed as an 18' Prospector. I was told by the last owner of the company that's what they called 18-footers with a transom. I have a #2623 which also has a transom, but for some reason it's not noted as a Prospector. Records just say 18' Transom, and the transom is a different shape than yours. But it's also only 16 ft. long with bilge keels and planer boards. How long is your canoe?
A St. Louis canoe is distinguished by the arrowhead-shaped decks.
