Old Town serial look up

Wooden Canoes are in the Blood
I was given an Old Town canoe last weekend, for FREE. As usual price reflects condition. It is 16 ft. long CS grade. Serial #137155 16 or 137135 16, hard to read. When someone has time I would be interested in the build sheet. Thanks.

Jim,
Well, it could be either number, so check both stems carefully.

Both canoes were 16' CS grade Yankees, with open spruce gunwales, keels and ash seats, decks and thwarts - no help there. Even if you could find evidence of original paint it might be rough, since 155 was Fire Red and 135 was Bright Red.

137155 was shipped to Ridgefield CT in July 1943
137135 was shipped to Lima OH in July 1943

Both Build records are attached.

Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. Please join WCHA or make a tax deductable contribution so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join. If you are already a WCHA member, THANK YOU!

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Mike,
Thank you for your quick reply. I'll check both stems again, but suffice to say, it's a Yankee from 1943 sporting Red Sock's colors.
