Did Old town ever use brass & painted plates instead of the decal? I found one of these at a yard sale & wondered if they were ever used on the older canoes or if this is a new thing.

The oval brass tags were first created and used in 1979 as shown at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/covers/large-79.gif when they were featured on the catalog cover. The rectangular ones shown in the middle at http://forums.wcha.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=383&d=1115164678 do not appear to have ever been used on any older canoes. Thanks Benson, the canoe I am working on was built in 1935 so I guess it would be inappropriate to use the brass tag. Do you know where I can get a decal that would be correct?
