Benson Gray Canoe History Enthusiast Staff member Aug 8, 2005 #2 The oval brass deck plate was first introduced in 1979 as shown at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/covers/large-79.gif on the catalog cover. The current decal was introduced in 1906 as shown at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/covers/large-06.gif on the catalog cover. The information at http://forums.wcha.org/showthread.php?t=413 covers this topic in more detail. I understand that Old Town has recently gone back to the name plate decals although some metal name plate tags are still used. Feel free to reply here if this doesn't answer your question. Benson
