Looks like 96677 is on a 17' Charles River (on HW form???) in AA grade with mahogany rails, seats, decks & thwarts. It had a keel and a floor rack is mentioned, but no mention of a sailing rig. It was originally dark green. Kind of unusual, this boat was mostly built in late 1927, not finished til summer of 1929 and not shipped til a year later. It was shipped to Carmel NY in June 1930. The build record is attached. Though the number area is a bit hard to read, it did fall in between 96676 and 78.
Scans of approximately 210,000 records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. Additional information about the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/records/ if you want more details. Please join WCHA or make a tax deductable contribution so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join. It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
