This row boat has been in my father's garage since the 1950's, and I would like to know the details about where it came from and when it was made. Any info would be appreciated.

The Old Town with serial number 134257 is a 12 foot long, AA (or top) grade, Sportboat model with open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany seats, half ribs, and a keel. It was built between December, 1941 and January, 1942. The original exterior paint color was dark green. It was shipped on April 24th, 1942 to New York City. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the thumbnail image attached below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

The filler was applied on Monday December 2, 1941. I can only imagine what was going through everyones mind the following Monday - December 8th.
