W/C Canoes
NW Chapter SPRING RENDEZVOUS MAY 26, 27, 28 / 2006 Manning Park, B.C.
For those who have not visited Manning Park in the Canadian Cascades, you are in for a treat.
This high mountain country will be bursting into spring in the clear northern air.
What to bring
• Tent/RV, food, and canoe
• Items for the raffle and auction
• Your woolies, toque and snow shovel ...... we are at 4000 ft
• Firewood
• Your musical instrument and most (unbelievable) stories.
• Your favorite trail food dish and recipes for sampling.
Costs approx. $ 10 per person per night.
Access
On Highway 3, 1 hour East of Hope, BC or 1 hour West of Princeton, BC.
Western border crossings would be Blaine, Lynden, or Sumas and in the East, Nighthawk or Oroville.
At Manning Park headquarters, look for group campsite "Lone Duck 2" on Lightning Lakes.
Tentative Schedule
Friday Noon - onwards Registration, set up camp, paddling
7:30 pm "200 years of the Canadian Fur Trade in 30 minutes"- Boudi van Oldenborgh
8:30 pm Fireside music, tall tales and outright lies.
Saturday
6:30 am Dawn Patrol on the lake
10:00-11:00 am Canoe Stroke Clinic Boudi van Oldenborgh
12:00-1:30 pm "Trail Foods" Bring or prepare your favorite dishes for sampling. Followed by the 'Great Canadian Cookoff'...whose stove can
boil 1 litre of water fastest... Prizes ! Prizes!
4:00-4:30 pm Bill Paine talks on the NW chapter canoe restoration.
7:30 pm "The trans-Canada Canoe Expedition from BC Eastward Ho" Dan Boles
8:30 pm Auction - Raffle - Reports
Sunday
6:30 am Dawn Patrol on the lake
9:00 am Board meeting
Between events there will be lots of time fur paddling, gossip, technical advice, and checking out the canoes.
