Dear Midlife Crisis Dan,

Thank you so much for posting this. I believe everyone should attempt to try this to see how viable this. Everyone should send me a paddle in this manner. When they start arriving, I will post, in this forum, the results. To further flesh out the test, send only high quality or value paddles so we can evaluate how well the Postal Service treats these beloved items.

Provide your mailing address. I may have a precious Beaver Brand paddle to send along. Every now and then a canoe will come with paddles, sometimes antique, more often than not, total junk, and never Shaw and Tenney.

When we return from our current trip to Maine/Campobello, I will explore the paddle pile.
With our current Post Office reluctance to even deliver postage, this should be interesting.

As a follow up, I want to say that the USPS is not what it used to be. Not one single paddle was delivered. Old Canoes, Old Paddles, Old Post Office, Things are not the same anymore.

Don't give up. I dug up a paddle to bring to the post office. It almost made it there several times but I got stymied by their hours. They open at noon. It's also been hunting season. That is slowing down now. My freezer is full, my son's is close, and my sausage plans are now set. At the farm I nearly finished combining the last of the corn yesterday so the fall pressure is finally off. I will visit the post office next week. Details will follow.
