What span of years did Old Town use a metal name plate that was attached with screws?

The oval brass tags were created and first used in 1979 as shown at http://www.wcha.org/catalogs/old-town/covers/large-79.gif when they were featured on the catalog cover. The rectangular ones shown at http://forums.wcha.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=383&d=1115164678 do not appear to have ever been used on any older canoes. Let me know if this doesn't answer your question,

Yes, and thanks much. The oval tag pictured with red background on the Old Town banner is attached to an OT advertised on Craigslist as a 1929 manufacture. No serial numbers shared as yet.

It is not unheard of for people to "dress up" an older canoe with a new metal OT badge -- by its self, a metal badge is not a good indicator of a canoe's age.

The use of the oval badge as an embellishment on an older boat crossed my mind. The serial numbers, if received, of course, will be definitive. Its a long drive just to verify and ID on site.
