I'm not on the board but there is a new log in. My understanding is that this was rolled out to the Assembly attendees as a test and will be extended the rest of the membership soon. Stay tuned,

I used the new access to read an article in an old issue of the journal.

What is the purpose of this new "something".

My understanding is that the purpose is to provide additional 'value' for the WCHA membership, with the hopes that more people will join. Access to electronic copies of the old Wooden Canoe journal issues are available to members for free for example rather than selling them for $100 and distributing them on a USB drive. Low resolution versions of many old canoe catalogs are also available. The process of setting up accounts for over a thousand members is taking some time. I expect that a fuller explanation will be available soon from a more official source.
