I don't think they found a clear number. Serial numbers on Charles River courting canoes can help with identification of the builder, but don't actually connect to a record... and some Charles River builders didn't use serial numbers... but that fact can help narrow things down. I believe the red canoe was narrowed down to two possible builders-- I think Robertson was one but can't recall the other.

The process of solving mysteries is part of the fun of these old canoes... even if there is no final answer.
