Kennebeck Sail Canoe #12692

I have an old Kennebec Sail Canoe, Serial number 12692.
I would like to restore it and am looking for more information about the boat as well as where to find parts for restoring.
My best guess is that it was built in the 1940's (steel nails, etc.)

If anyone can help me that would be great!

The Kennebec Canoe Company placed serial number 12692 on an 18 foot long Kineo model. It was planked by F. Ray on March 15th, 1919. Ray then covered it and first filled it on March 22nd. Ray applied the second filler coat on May 2nd. Then A. Tolouse railed it on the May 17th, 1919. The original exterior color and shipping destination columns are blank. The original Kennebec records are stored at the Maine State Museum. I am unable to attach a scan of these records since their policies do not permit any electronic reproduction of their materials.

The microfilms of these records were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA). I hope that you will join or contribute to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://www.wcha.org/join.html to join. More information about the Kennebec models can be found in the Kennebec catalogs contained on the Historic Wood Canoe and Boat Company Catalog Collection CD available from http://www.dragonflycanoe.com/cdrom.htm on the web.

The best sources for restoration parts can be found at http://www.wcha.org/buildsupply/ in the Directory of Builders & Suppliers. The steel nails may be from a prior repair.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.
