Kennebec canoe

I believe that I have a kennebec canoe with the serial no. 19137 and a 16 for its length. Can anyone tell me anything about this canoe? Thanks much...

Hi Bob,

Benson Gray has the Kennebec records and is apparently away just now. Just so you know you haven't been forgotten.

The Kennebec canoe with serial number 19137 is a 16-1/2' Joy Boy model (outboard motor canoe) - if this sounds like your canoe, further details can be provided. If your canoe is not a square stern canoe, post photos that will help us to identify the builder.

Both the Old Town and Carleton canoes with that number are 17' canoes.

That's more better. The Kennebec canoe with the serial number 19437 is a 16' Kennebec model, Type A for which all stages of construction (planks, covered, filled and railed) were signed off on 7/16/1927. It was equipped with outside stems and painted gray with a darker gray border. It was shipped 7/18/1927 to 27-893 (we don't have the key for cracking this code).
