Inwale Tips?

I'm replacing the last three inches or so of some rotted inwales. Does anyone have any tips they can share on scarfing new tips on?

I haven't done it recently and it always seems like too much guesswork making them fit. There's gotta be an easier way. I'm planning on 7:1 scarfs.

I try to pattern off the rotted ones before removing. Cut the replacements aprox 1/16 larger than the finished size and then shape to fit after glueing them in place. Have fun. Pete

HI Fitz. I would like to hear some input on this one too. Also, I wonder if a multi tool saw would be handy for this work? I've always used the pull saw and trial and error.
