Mad Badger
In Memoriam
Good morning Benson,

I have an OT 16' with half ribs, #144202. Interested in the build sheet so I can get the details on model, original paint, owner etc. Thanks for your great work. Jake

The Old Town canoe with serial number 144202 is a 16 foot long, AA (or top) grade, HW (Heavy Water) model with open mahogany gunwales, mahogany decks, mahogany thwarts, half ribs, a keel, mast seat, mast step, rudder, and the stern seat lowered three inches. It was built between February and April, 1946. The original exterior paint color was fire red. It shipped on May 3rd, 1946 to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A scan of this build record can be found by following the link at the attached thumbnail image below.

This scan and several hundred thousand others were created with substantial grants from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) and others. A description of the project to preserve these records is available at http://www.wcha.org/ot_records/ if you want more details. I hope that you will join or renew your membership to the WCHA so that services like this can continue. See http://www.wcha.org/about-the-wcha/ to learn more about the WCHA and http://store.wcha.org/WCHA-New-Membership.html to join.

It is also possible that you could have another number or manufacturer if this description doesn't match your canoe. Feel free to reply here if you have any other questions.

Benson

I truly appreciate the information, but I am scratching my head (tearing my hair out) try to print the build sheets you provide. Either they print on 9 pages, or look like a postage stamp. When I shrink them, only the top left corner prints on page 1. Is there some secret to printing the build sheets on one page?

And thanks again for your good work!
